Still at the dealer

A tow truck wouldn't be needed. The car drives fine. The engine light
keeps coming on because the engine misfires when it's cold. Once it
gets going it's fine. At least that is my understanding of the issue.
I am totally frustrated with this dealer and yes you do have a good
    point.

I was looking through my paperwork because the attorney asked me to
send him all this stuff. I found my "Extended Service Agreement" I
signed when I bought the car. The particular dealer I purchased from
extends the warranty on the car to 50K or 5 years as long as you have
the car serviced with them. I had mentioned this to the service
manager and he laughed saying it didn't mean much. I asked him if he
would honor that. He said that Honda would most likely cover this
problem. I believe someone here told me the problems I'm having should
be covered under the Emissions Warranty which is for 5 years.

So anyway, I found this paper and it says if you're more than 40 miles
from the selling dealer to call this # and talk to them prior to having
any repairs done. Oops. I'm assuming since it's a Honda dealer the
car is now at it shouldn't be a problem. I'm going to call them in the
morning to see what they have to say.

The problem isn't whether it's under warranty or not because so far I
    haven't had to pay anything.

And just so you guys know while these people seem to be Stepford like
morons they have contacted Honda's tech line and they are performing
the services that are being reccomended by the engineers at Honda.
They're sending all the data from the testing to the engineers. Or
this is what I'm being told. The service guys are stumped and don't
know what to do so they're looking to Honda to tell them what to do.

    I'm just friggin annoyed.

After I talk to the people I bought the car from tomorrow, I will
decide if I want to pursue this through the lawyer. I think since the
car is under warranty they (lawyer) should be able to get something
done. I did email an investigative reporter a few minutes ago at WRAL
in Raleigh. They say it will take 10 days to get in touch with you if
they feel your complaint warrants are response.

I don't trust the car dealers around here. They are all owned by
Leith. Whoever that is. I think there is a Crown Honda in Durham and
I was planning to take my husband's car there to have his brakes done.
If it's a good experience I'll just suck it up and drive there from now
    on.

fyi: if you have a good independent mechanic, another option may be to
buy an extended warranty from Warranty Direct. Lots of independent
shops are authorized service facilities for Warranty Direct so you can
get a major repair done by someone you have chosen.

But in your case, I'm amazed that the Honda District Service Manager
hasn't stepped in to help you out. Will you buy a Honda ever again?

(My own buying pattern has been influenced by the excellent service at
reasonable cost I can get from my local Toyota dealer (a CARMAX store)
vs. usually good service at high cost I can get from my local Honda
    dealer.)

I got my car back again about two weeks ago. In total it was at the
dealer for 59 days. When I went to pick it up they told me they had
scratched the bumper therefore they replaced it and painted & it was as
    good as new. Great!!

I went directly to a salesman after picking the car up to discuss trade
in value and their best price on the Honda Odyessy. BJs wholesale club
has an auto buying program and if you go through them a Honda Odyessy
EX with leather & DVD was $30,900 something. Their best price on the
Odyessy was $30,654. They were offering $14,000 for my trade in. I
took the numbers home. KBB.com said my car was worth $14K. Numbers
    were good.

I called Honda corporate and asked if they could do better. They said
they would contact the dealership to someone call me. I talked to the
Public Relations (on a Fri.) guy who said he would have the sales
manager call me on Mon. He said they would do something considering
    the extenuating circumstances.

Salesmanager called me and said they would give me $15K fo my trade.
My husband & I discussed it and we did it.

I got rid of the car. I only owed $5K on my car so I got a lot nicer
vehicle for just a little bit more per month than my Accord.
