stock civic 96 hx clock n radio

Discussion in 'Civic' started by contagiouss_blue, Apr 22, 2005.

  1. I got bumped in the back on the interstate by another car last
evenin...today i notice in the morning that my clock and radio unit is
not firing up. All other controls seem to be operating fine...it might
just be coincidence, but i think possibly impact could have loosened
some connections n caused the clock-radio to die out. Any suggestions
how I can find out for mysel, n maybe fix it? The clock n radio is
    stock component.

I think the two share a ground wire, perhaps the lighter socket is on
the same circuit. Before tearing into that, check the fuse labeled
"backup" in the fusebox under the hood. This fuse is for the always on
power to the clock and the stereo (although in the stereo it is used
only for keep-alive of FM presets etc., I thought the stereo would still
work without it) as well as for the memory of the ECU. I seem to
remember the fuse being 7.5A on the '96 Civic, but I haven't looked it
    up.
