    Hi,
I have a 91 civic. I need to replace the back-up light switch, that is
located on the transmission, under the distributor. The switch is mounted
with a horizontal hex bolt. I cannot undo it because there is not enough
room for good leverage. I cannot put down a deep socket either, because the
top of the switch is wider than the bottom, where the bolt is. Tried
penetrating spray. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Can you get at it with a crows foot and an extension on your ratchet
    wrench? http://www.allproducts.com.tw/tool/okt/08-ja-crw.jpg

I've never had a problem, standard 19 mm open end Craftsman wrench.

I've never done this repair, but perhaps a crow's foot will help. It's an
open ended wrench that snaps onto the extension of a ratchet.

  5. Grab the switch body with a big pair of Vice Grips. Either it will
unscrew or it will break off and make room for your socket wrench.

Crow's foot worked great, thanks for the advice.
