Hi all, Today I used a non-original key (that I cut at a hardware
store)to drive my car since I misplaced the original key. Well, the
key is now stuck in the "I" position and I cannot get it to the "0"
position to get it out. I tried several things that I read in the
newsgroups such as shifting hard to "P" position, etc. Nothing has
work. Is there a technique to get this key out?

    Thanks

Take a pair of pliers, grasp the end of the key and turn it to the 0
position. Take the key back to the store and get your money back, then go to
a dealership and have a key cut from the correct blank.

I speak from personal experience ;^)

I tried that and I damaged both the key and the cylinder.

I had to replace the cylinder today which cost me 180 dollars. By the
way, I called a locksmith last night and he said he could not do
    anything about it.

    Thanks

That's strange, a locksmith is the person who told me how to perform the
operation. And, I did no damage to either the key, or the cylinder. It
doesn't require a lot of force to remove the key.

  7. The locksmith Gilbert called probably does not do automotive work. Any
good automotive locksmith would have serviced this problem.
