subwoofer for Honda Odyssey

Discussion in 'Odyssey' started by Stuart S. Berr, Sep 8, 2004.

  1. I had bought a factory subwoofer for a 2002 Honda Odyssey. I went to the
dealer to have it installed. They said they'd never done one but could do
it for $700. This is outrageous. Has anyone else had one installed at
the dealer. If so, how many hours did it take them and what was the cost?

  2. Here are the installation instructions for that sub. From looking thru
these I can understand the $700 install. But I might be inclined to do it
    myself.

  3. I don't know what the book says, but I had it installed when I bought my
02 new in September of 2001. Mine was the first 2002 Odyssey they
delivered, and my tech had not ever seen the subwoofer. He got it
    installed in about an hour.

I think I paid $300 or so for it installed. $700 is outrageous.

For $700 I think I'd shop around a bit - do you know of a good car audio
shop in town? They could probably do a good job for less than $700.

The factory unit integrates nicely into the stereo; it just simply wires
    right in.

You can buy the unit online from someplace like San Leandro Honda, and
you can see if you can find someone to install it for you. It's not
    difficult.

  6. I actually already have the subwoofer. I think the tech at my local
Honda dealer is just being lazy and didn't want to be bothered with it.
Is this something a backyard mechanic (like myself) could do?

  7. With the instructions and a bit of patience, yes.
