Surging... I think

    Hi there,
Recently purchased an 88 Civic Hatchback with about 313 000 k on it. Only
blues blue smoke for about 2 seconds when I get it going and accelerate
quickly in first in second. Aside from the CV joint being replaced,
everything seems fine except for one thing. When the car is dry (cold) it
seems to surge (I don't have a tach yet but I would guess it's around 2500
rpm). It only surges once or twice and only in that rpm range in first and
second gear (probably in third in fourth too but I don't really notice it).
I'm hoping it's just the fuel injectors needing cleaning (put fuel injection
cleaner in it last tank when I first noticed it). If anyone has any ideas,
    please let me know.

    Thanks,
    D
