Technical Serice Bulletins (TSB)

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by lkajsldjflsdflsd, May 19, 2004.

  1. I check with ALLDATA.com and apparently they don't have the Honda and Acura
    TSBs anymore.

Where can I get these? I called up a few dealers, but they would only give
me information on a specific TSB.

I'm a DIYer so I'm looking for the whole list, and details on all TSBs for
    my 1990 Honda Accord.

    Thanks for your help,
    -Alex

In the US, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has a
website listing summaries of TSBs and also recalls. Since Honda restricted
Alldata from providing full reports years ago, to get full copies you can
pay NHTSA to either have them mailed (expensive) or visit their Washington
DC office and pay a small copying charge.

    Visit http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/tsbsearch.cfm to find
    the summaries/reference numbers.

    Visit http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/trd/#TECHNICAL for FAQs about
    getting the reports, including fees.

It's alot cheaper if you can visit their DC office (what a pain though with
security, waiting for an escort to their Technical Information Services
Reading Room, etc.), but then it's only $0.10-$0.15 per page to print. I
was able to sit at a terminal and select which TSBs and which pages to print
    which was pretty economical.

You can get them from www.helminc.com, but they are a little pricey. And
MOTOR/alldata does have all of the TSB's that would deal with your 1990
accord. (or at least the subscription service with all of the DVD's does.)

Also check your local library. My county library has a subscription to the
AllData database though it must be accessed from one of the local branches.

Ok, but anyone know where you can get a TSB in Canada for a Honda?? Would
info from alldata.com be relevant to non-US models?

EBSCO also has a database of service bulletins and auto repair info here:
http://search.epnet.com/Community.aspx but I believe your public library
needs to have a subscription to the service in order for you to use it.
