Last fall I bought a '92 Civic DX sedan (my 1st Japanese car). Later I noticed that the rubber boots are separated from the tie rods so contaminants can reach the inner tie rod joints even though the boots still (on 1st glance) appear to cover them. There is still grease in there (but I suppose it must be dirty grease by now). How urgent is it to replace the tie rods? I need to ask my local mechanic about costs but keep procrastinating.
