Timing belt (92 Accord)

Discussion in 'Accord' started by Loukas Kallivokas, Nov 13, 2003.

  1. Hello,

I just had (presumably) the timing and balancer belts replaced (90K). It's a
long story, but I have doubts that the shop I went to, did indeed replace
them. Incidentally, when I asked about the water pump, I was told that it
was "good", and therefore they didn't replace it.

Is there a way to check whether they indeed replaced them? For example, is
there any white lettering on the belts that, if I decide to open up, it will
    be visible?

    Thanks
    Loukas

  2. Have someone crank. It's deep in there. Check if belt`s lettering
(most have it) is faded or new. Balancer belt is usually not a snap
hazard. If the pump wasn't replace, use Honda coolant only, to extend
    pump's life.
