    Hi all,

i have 97 honda CR-V with about 100,000 KM on it. i checked a doc on
Honda web site and it said that 60,000 miles is point to change timing
belt. compared with other Honda cars, it is pretty low. is it correct? if
yes, do you know the reason??

    thanks for your help,

In your case, it's TIME that dictates your interval. amoung other
things, your valve adjustment should be checked while it's all apart.
Some say to change the water pump too. I'd wait until 200,000Km if the
coolant has been cared for consistanly.

Do you drive this car in Canada?

    Honda Canada at
    http://www.honda.ca/HondaEng/YouAndYourCar/HondaService/MaintenanceCalculator.ht
    m says:
84 mths/168,000 km Replace Timing Belt & Inspect Water Pump

100,000 km Replace Timing Belt & Inspect Water Pump if regularly driven in very
    low temp (-29 C, -20 F)

    http://www.gates.com/brochure.cfm?brochure=981&location_id=540&go=preset663Gates
says 105k miles (= 169 km), but I think gates.com is geared towards cars driven
    in the United States.
