seems like a pain to remove just the air filter housing. i'm looking for a
website that will show me the easiest way to remove my 05 filter element as
I want to replace it with a K&N filter. I removed the four bolts that hold
down the filter box but I'm having a hard time opening the filter box to
replace the filter. any website that has pictures of how to change the
    filter? thx.

K&N filters are fine if you maintain them and adjust the maintenance
interval "Bei Starkem Dustenfall", as it used to say on the old Volkswagen
    Bug oil bath filters.

oil bubble filters are not very effective - their efficiency drops as
throughput increases. the particle removal efficiency of paper filters
otoh is linear as a function of throughput. with an oil-it-yourself
screen filter, you have all the maintenance hassle and the risks of
reduced efficiency - simply makes no sense.

You will be allowing all sorts of crap into your engine, and then the
oil. These filters have to be cleaned every 2,000 miles to maintain
any effectiveness. They clog like nobody's business because of ultra-
    low capacity.

All for virtually zero performance improvement.

    Save your money.
