I need to replace these soon and was wondering what brand anyone here
recommends? I had GOODYEAR WEATHERHANDLER tires on the car for the past 3
years but I'm not happy at all with them because I didn't even get 50,000 KM
out of them and I was told I'd get 120,000. I'm looking for something
affordable but not cheap. Will to pay about 100.00 CDN a tire. I don't want
to buy an overpriced brand name like Pirelli. Thanks.

Why don't you try the romper room newsgroup and leave the adults alone.
Better yet, go out and get some sun and let your daddy use the computer.
    Smart ass.

I dunno man, i have pirelli P3000s on my 98 Civic sedan, got them for
    about
$110 per tire from Sturgeon Tire (not sure what part of Canada
    you are from).

I won't be switching anytime soon. They have 80000km on them
from manitoba roads, and still have over 50% tread on them, and
are wearing great! My factory tires only lasted about 60000km
and they were TOAST at that point. I then switched to some
cheap Coopers, but they wore out super fast and weird, which is why i
brought them back to Sturgeon Tire, and got Warranty for them,
so I actually only paid $300 for the new Pirelli tires after exchange.

At the very least, if you won't go for Pirellis, ensure
that the TREADWEAR rating on the new tires you are looking
at is a high number, somewhere in the
neighborhood of 450 or more. The Pirellis I have are actualy at 620.
This number is located on the sidewall, along
with TEMP and another rating, I can't remeber.

That number indicates how long the tread is expected to last, where 100
would be 20000km (or so) on a specific road
    surface. Its pretty
subjective, but the higher the number, the longer the
    treadwear.

And as far as hardness, the pirellis are awesome, very low amount of road
    noise.

Thanks for the info. I'm in Montreal, Quebec. 110.00 a tire is pretty
decent. I figured Pirelli would go for at least 150.00 a tire. If Goodyear
doesn't give me replacements on these, I'll definetly look into the P3000s.
I also got about 60,000 km on my Firestone factory tires. Thanks again!
