    On a related thread...

What's the downright most ugly car ever?

    My contenders...

    Opel Kadet (circa 1972)
Ford Taurus (the year it had the round rear glass)
    Pontiac Aztek (any)
    AMC Pacer (any)
AMC Gremlin (any, but strangely enough, has an occult following)
    Ford Focus (any)
Ford Edsel (any, even tho its a collectable)
Chevy Impala (the ones with those "eyeball" tail lights)
Honda Element (any, even tho its alleged they did on purpose)
Ford Mustang (the year they put 4 cylinders in them)
Ford Mustang II (that huge 197? fastback...Id know it, if Id see it :))

    What's your list?

We had a similar thread at work some time ago.
The question was: what is the ugliest car on the roads today?

    Aztek/Buick Rendezvous were very popular.
    Element wasn't out yet.
Lot of other Pontiacs came out (Gran Prix, Grand Am, Sunfire).
Toyota Echo (although the new hatchback is nice)
    New Camry
    Matrix

My pick was a Fiat Multipla (have to go to Europe to see it)

Renault 12 and Simca 1100, both from the 70's get my vote. Of cars
currently in production I would say Lexus SC is about as ugly as it
    gets.

That's the Mustang II. 1974-1978. It was Pinto-based.

Sounds like the '71-'73. The Mustang II succeeded this one in 1974, and was
itself replaced by the "shovel-nose" in 1979.

  6. I would have to add the bustleback Cadillac from the '80s.

Also Datsun/Nissan F210 from the early '80s. (I think that was the
    model designation.)

VW Thing - may be in same category as Element and Scion. Even the
Chevy Astro may fall into this.

Any of these new, bulbous pickup trucks. In this case it is a
functional thing. They have to be bulbous to function as a penile
    extension.

pontiac aztek (needs to be on list twice)
current generation cadillac srx (has caddilac been eyeballing the pontiac
    aztek for inspiration?)
    datsun f10
    toyota cressida
    porsche 928 (a $45,000 amc pacer)
    '76 caddy seville
caddy cimmarron (monza with leather seats advertised to be
indistinguishable from a BMW or Mercedes). Looked like a dorked up
    teenager's car.
first generation ford taurus jellybean and aborted greyhound bus fetus
    station wagon
any generation/year of the buick riviera, especially 80's

Actually it was the F10 from the mid-'70s, and I agree, it was homely. The
B210 from the same period was a close second in the Ugly Cup competition,
    though.

And how about the Dodge Dart from the early '60s? Those headlights on an
angle and all those random creases and folds really took the cake. Come to
think of it, most anything American around 1960-64 was pretty ugly.

    Pontiak Asscrack!
Or at least a cult following. :)
Mmmm, I think the hatchback is gorgeous, very clean.

Most any Citroen. Although the Duck gets a pass because it's so bizarre
it's almost cute. And IIRC Herr Doktor Porsche was forced to design
the engine while in a French prison in WW2.

  13. Yea, that's the one. Kind of had a cheap science fiction look to it.

And that reminds me, the Subarus of that era were pretty weird looking
    also.
Can't remember those early ones. My friend had a '68 in high school
and that looked OK as I recall.

    I had a '64 Dodge Polara 500, a limited edition anniversary special.
383ci (6.9l ?) 350HP. The engine was moved back in the chassis to provide
50/50 weight distribution. It would do 0-60 in about 6 seconds, topped out
with the 130 MPH speedo bouncing off the end, and had brakes that would
scare people hauling down from 100+. It got 13 mpg rain or shine, and it
was a big sleeper in the early 70's after smog equipment took a bite out of
the "hot" cars of the day. It would absolutely dust a Mercedes 6.9.
