Warranty Question

  1. Well if it is under warranty I don't have a clue what your question really
is. Take it in and get it fixed.

I have a 2001 Civic LX with 48K miles on it. I bought the car new from the
dealer in Aug. 2001 and did not purchase the extended warranty. There seems
now to be an exhaust leak.

Now, before I look stupid asking the dealer: I was checking the warranty
materials that came with the car. It seems (unless I am interpreting what I
am reading wrong) that exhaust components are warranted to 50K/3 years?
Other exhaust components are warranted to 70 or 80,000 miles? Also,
something I read seems to indicate that you can have warranty service from
    places other than Honda Dealerships.

Am I nuts? Anyone have any experience in this realm? Thanks in Advance!

    excap,

About the last question, Yes, if you're stranded in Elbow, Saskatchewan
(there is such a place) and there isn't a Honds dealer there (there
isn't), you can get your car fixed at the service station, and Honda
will (probably) pay for the work, as long as it's covered by the terms
    of the warranty.

Why not tell us more about the apparent problem?

The 8 year 80,000 miles warranty is warranted for the emission components in
some state pertains only to the catalytic converter in the exhaust section.
If you have an exhaust leak, your car is still under warranty because it's
under 3 years and under 50K. Take it in and get it fix.

Your warranty manual goes into more detail on what's considered emission
    components or not. Read on...

There are rules about getting your vehicle serviced at other places other
than the Honda dealership and getting re-imbursement for the repair. If
your car is under warranty and it dies in the middle of nowhere and the
nearest honda dealership is 500 miles away... I reckon that you can get it
repaired and send in your receipt and try to get re-imbursement. In a case
like that, you'll be in a better position to get your money back if you
call Honda Customer service number and get prior approval before taking it
    in.
