Wary about my recent Accord purchase - any advice

    Hi,

I ordered a new 06 Accord EX-L a couple of weeks ago. I checked prices
with several dealers via e-mail and phone, and one was considerably
lower. They called and said that they had made a mistake and quoted me
an EX without leather by accident, but would still honor the price for
the EX-L. I have a nice faxed and e-mailed invoice that shows I put a
deposit down, the total cost for the car, and the model, make, etc.
They did not try to cop out of the deal and were honest about it. I
called other dealers and none could match that price, and even guessed
that the other dealer quoted cloth.

The car is on order, and according to the invoice I have, it is being
manufactured mid december. They said delivery maybe by Christmas, but
more likely first week in January.

So - should I be worried about anything? What should I watch out for?
Only thing I could think of is that they may take an EX and add leather
at the dealership, but then it would not have all the other features
that a factory EX-L comes with.

As for the order, is it typical that they would not know exact
manufacturing and delivery dates? They said 4 of the color and style I
want are being made for our region, and that they have done an on-line
trade with one of the dealers that one was to be shipped to, so that it
is shipped directly to them. Is there any way for me to verify this.
I suppose the other worry is that they keep delaying me indefinitely,
but then why do the deal in the first place.

  2. The VIN will tell all.

They'll know the VIN before it gets to the dealership. Use that and
Google around, and you'll find Honda VIN decoders that should tell you
whether it's an EX or an EX with factory leather.
    That's my experience, yes.

Hey, it's only a car. If things don't work out, there are millions more
    cars in the world.

Don't sweat this. You're overthinking it. Calm down.

Relax, enjoy the car. If you still have misgivings after 2 months, send it
    to me, gratis (grin).

It sounds like you suffer from the same malady that my ex-wife does ...
terminal buyers remorse. The symptoms are simple, buy something that you
really want but worry about it for at least 6 months.

Keep the fax and all the other paper work and you should be fine.

Actually, my problem is that I've dealt with enough car salesmen to
know they will try anything to make the most money. Not all of them,
but it does seem that the ones I deal with are always telling half
truths. Like another poster - I too have had a salesman try and have
me sign a blank sheet before his calculations are done. The thing I
hate most is that they try to keep you there at the dealership as long
as possible so that you feel you've invested a lot of time and it makes
it more difficult to walk away. All my past experiences has made me
    skeptical.

I've had no remorse about buying other large purchases, such as a
house, boat, condo, etc, and have none about this. I just want to make
sure I've not been had and want to know what to watch out for when the
    car arrives.
