    Hey all,

I need to replace the water pump on my girlfriends 87 prelude. After
    checking prices at Honda ($80),
and looking at what this car is worth to her, I
am thinking of going to an aftermarket pump. (half that price or less if I
    go to Ebay)

Anyone wanna try and talk me out of it? :)

Also, whats the diff between a cast iron and an aluminum pump?

  2. One is made of cast iron, and the other one is made of aluminum.

The aftermarket brand that you should look for is called Paraut. One can
usually be had for around $50 or so. These pumps have a reputation of being
better than the Honda OE pumps with respect to seal seepage.

I shoulda mentioned, the claim on the Ebay ad
was that the aluminum provided 25% better flow.
    Any truth to that?

I have purchased items on ebay and have had good success. The only bad
experience was when a hard drive that I ordered would not work in my
Macintosh computer. I was able to get my money back. So my advice is to
buy the after-market water pump. It's my guess that it will work just
    fine.
