    Hi guys,

Could you recommend a wax for my 03 Accord? I've never waxed a
car before but I'm told it's a good idea to maintain the clear coat.

I hand wash the car every 3-4 weeks. Should one wax the car right
    after washing it?

I'll tell you one thing: if you wax your car without washing it, you
will DESTROY the paint job. You will rub all that abrasive dirt right
into the paint and scratch the hell out of it.

If you wax your car, wash it first, make sure it's VERY CLEAN.

Rain Dance is also good. It's won't leave as nice a shine as Meguiar's but
it lasts a lot longer. With Rain Dance, you only need to wax about twice a
    year.

There are a number of forums where they discuss nothing but detailing.
You might check them out. A couple I like are:
    http://www.vtec.net/forums/forum?forum_id=3097
    http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/detailing/ (great FAQ here)
The folks on this 2nd board are pretty serious. I would certainly wax
right after a wash. Dirt scratches paint. The cleaner the surface,
the better. I like Zaino, but it involves some effort. Read their
site. For a very simple waxing, Consumer Reports last tested waxes in
2000. They liked Zymöl Cleaner Wax liquid and Nu Finish Car Polish.
    Good luck.

Thanks to all of those who replied--I'll take a look at see which of the
recommended waxes are available in local stores and try it out in the
    coming weekend.

    Your responses are appreciated!

  8. I use Gliptone pure carnauba wax - buffs up easily.
Yes, wash first, dry with a chamois, remove any stains with bug &tar
remover and wax. It's hard work.:)
