What about these gifts to Toyota

  3. Generally they think they have a monopoly on intelligence,
rationality, and self-reliance, and its worst among the ones who are
less educated, drunk, have criminal records, believe humans rode
dinosaurs, and are receiving welfare checks. They also consider
anyone in this forum who hasn't written-in Jefferson Davis' name on
every presidential ballot to be a far left kook who hates America and
    freedom.

  4. The looney right is worse, as demonstrated by its higher rates of
welfare and unemployment, but don't let the facts get in your way.

  5. They already asked for government money and got it, to the tune of
$250,000 for each job created, and Toyota currently has about $28B in
cash. Such subsidies aren't unusual because every corporation,
American or Foreign, that puts up a large building receives at least
one major subsidy from the local or state government. Even Arizona,
which is relatively stingy about such subsidies (the airline based
here received $50M, while Minnesota's largest airline got 20x that
much), companies get paid for moving here, moving here despite already
being here, and for not moving out of here.

Find out how your state is subsidizing corporations:

At least with Intel, a lot of their products are produced primarily in
the US, despite being labelled with foreign countries of origin.

While you are tracking subsidies for a business moving to a city, or for not
moving away, don't forget the professional sports franchises. The subsidies
(and blackmail) for the sports teams dwarfs anything given to other
businesses, and is of questionable economic benefit.

Quite true. Quite excessive. Quite a waste.

I am more concerned about people getting paid millions of dollars to
play games when around 1000 kids died today in India from diarrhea.

So is the waste of 1000 kids who died from diarrhea disease in India,
alone. Many more are dying needlessly in other countries.

  10. Ain't going to believe that for one second without a reference.

It's my personal observation that most on Welfare are apolitical, don't
give a sh!t, don't vote, or vote who the TV tells them to.

  11. Ain't gonna believe this without a reference, either. $250,000 PER JOB?!?!?!

  12. That's on good days. I haven't had too many good days lately.

Yeah. I like doing keyboards. $35 for 5 minutes. But I make up for it when
"swapping boards" doesn't fix it, and have to figure it out. Then it nets
me about $15 an hour. But it evens out. I figure average of $22 an hour.

That is a wildly inflated amount, which includes among other things the
infrastructure cost that government has to spend when new people move into
an area (schools, roads, sewers, police). Of course it is ridiculous to
claim that this is a gift to Toyota since all of these things are funded by
property and sales taxes paid by the employees who move there, and are
incurred when any new resident moves to the town.

When it comes to the truth and liberals, there is only an accidental
relationship. The big lie is their modus operandi.

    Mark A, Dec 15, 2008
  14. No, when the property tax, sewer tax and water rates are raised to pay
for infrastructure to accommodate the factory and people moving into
the area, *all* people pay the increased rates. If you already have a
job and don't get a higher paying job at the new factory, all you get
out of the deal is higher taxes and more congestion.

The real estate developers, land owners and politicians are the big
    beneficiaries.

  15. So, what's the right one?

I would figure if it comes from more than one source, it must be accurate.

Figure it out: $28+ per hour, medical, dental, life insurance and pension.

  18. Who might that be?

    I wouldn't say it's a 'monopoly on intelligence'. I'd say it's more
'common sense', 'trying to do what's best for all', and most of all,
'keeping power away from the k00ks.'

Looks like the country definitely lost the fight on the last item with
    this last election...

Seems to have gotten lost somewhere, All that seems to register is "Race
