What kind of sub woofers do poeple have in 99 Accord sedan trunks

I've got 99 Accord EX that I'd like to put a sub woofer and amp in.
Personally I'm not going for a heart stopping bass. I just want to fill in
the low bass that my mids, tweeters, and 6x9's cannot create. One issue I
have is I would prefer the sub not take a large chunk of real estate in my
trunk. I saw and heard Boston Acoustics Competitor C110. It's a loaded
10" sub woofer (non-ported) with a small foot print it sounded great. I was
going to power the sub with Alpines T220 (140w x1) or their T320 (220w x1)
amp. The head unit I have is a Alpine CDA-9813 (60w x4) which would power
everything else. Money dictates what I buy as I've been recently laid off
and I'm using some of my severance package to finish off my stereo system.
Kind of a make me feel better gift to myself. I'm interested in hearing
from other people who have subs in there Accord sedan trunks.

    TIA,

    Rick

Actually, 6x9s can create some pretty good bass, you just have to get the
right ones and power them with a strong, dedicated amp (not through the amp
in your head unit). A few years back, the top of the line Pioneer (Premier)
used to make some pretty good 6x9s, not sure if they still do.

Otherwise, if you want a sub that doesn't take up a lot of space, check out
    Infinity Basslink - it's a self-powered (built-in 200W amp) 10" sub with 10"
passive radiator. I have it in the trunk of my A4 and it fills the low end
quite nicely for the price - around $250 or less from places like
    www.thezeb.com

Pete, Thanks for the info on the Infinity Baselink. I've read a bunch of
reviews on it and it sounds very much what I'm looking for and it's cheaper
than others. The foot print is also in the ballpark for my trunk. It took
sometime to get my Alpine CDA-9813 setup correctly to let the proper
frequencies, slope and Parametric EQ power to the 6x9's, and it was just
yesterday that I finally felt I got it right. I actually thought I would
not need a sub. However, I visited a couple of sound shops and was able to
listen to my cars setup along with a few subs. I was amazed at how much
more I would gain in clarity, imaging and depth with the addition of a sub.
I'll check out the Baselink today. Again thanks for the pointer.

    Cheers,
    Rick

the audibahn dual 10inch sealed box fits nicely. a jbl 600.1 amp also goes
nicely. leaves alot of trunk space left. also you might try looking for
the subwoofers that sit within the spare tire - much like the one that comes
    in the RSX-S

Well I decided to run one Alpine SWE1041 (10") in a sealed box and a bridged
Alpine MRV T320 (240 w). They wanted to mount the amp on the rear seat but
the area was not big enough because of the rear seat pass through. I did
not want the amp mounted on subwoofer box itself because should the
subwoofer be stolen they get the amp as an added gift. So they mounted the
amp on the left side using part of the plastic storage tray & attaching it
to the side wall. The subwoofer box is small enough where it does not take
up much room and should I want to remove it for more trunk space it's
nothing more than 2 speaker cable ends to unclip. They even used Honda
trunk carpet to wrap the subwoofer box in. I was amazed at how much lower
end the speaker fills. Now all I have to do is figure out all the different
settings the Alpine CDA9813 does. Stereo HU's sure have come a long way
since the 80's (My last stereo upgrade)

    Cheers,

    Rick
