Which honda should I buy?

Hi,

I'm looking at some older models, 5th gen (hatchback) civics and 2nd
gen rex.
Insurance will permit me to buy any one of the following models. The
choice I have is

92 Civic 1.5 VTI
92 Civic 1.6 ESI
91 CRX 1.5 dual carb

I dont know if any of them are jap or uk yet, I'll find out when I
call
the buyers. But based on either options whats my best bet?? I really
want a crx, but if the VTI is jap should I go for it instead?

Is their anything I should look out for when I'm buying it? I know the
distributor is a popular part to go on civics at around 80k!?

Heh, I was speaking to the guy at the insurance company and he wanted
to know were any of the cars modified in any way ... so I told him I
had no idea, but then I asked him what would happen if I put a super
charger in it? He left me holding for a minute and came back to tell
me that " I would " have to fill out an engineers form. I can see it
now ... 'I estimate the bhp increase from my super charger to be aprx
5bhp'

 

you do know the CRX is basically a civic anyway dont you?

i got a '93 civic 1.5 16v SOHC (non vtec) and very happy. doesnt the ESI
only come as a 1.6 vtec 130bhp model?

you from the UK, rock lobster?

for me, the choice would be pure 0-60times (after insurance price).
and if u plan on mods (i presume so by ur supercharger statement) then watch
the insurance. the b*****ds didnt charge me extra for ar induction kit, but
did for tinted windows and quickshift (£80 more - ~$120USD)

I'm practically from the uk!

I know the crx and civic are closely related alright, but isnt the
crx about a 3rd lighter than the civic? The ESI as far as I know is a
SOHC 1.6 non vtec (120bhp?)

The insurance company are charging me 1210euro for either an LSI or an
ESI which I thought was odd, condsidering the LSI is only about
100bhp. Their charging me 1700 for the 1.5 dual carb rex, or the 1.5
vti civic. I dont know whats best to go for as I dont know what the
bhp/0-60 times are like, hence the post I'm figuring I'm gonna
like the sound of the vtec kick in on the civic, but I do like the rex
an awfull lot!!!
