    Hello

My 1999 Accord EX V6 has around 56,000 miles on it. It needs new tires and
I was wondering which ones I should get.

Also, should I get the dealer to change them or go elsewhere ?

    Advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  3. Lots and lots of tire reviews on http://www.tirerack.com (which
    also sells tires).

The November issue of Consumer Reports has a tire test of many
195/65R15 size tires tested on a 2002 Honda Accord.

You didn't say which tires came with the car, V rated etc. If you are
looking for V speed rated AVOID at all costs Yokohama AVS DB S2's . The
ones I bought took 3 tries to balance and from time to time vibrate like
crazy as well as giving 2 to 4 LESS miles per gallon on the highway.

My current favorites are the Conti Extreme Contact purchased through
    www.tirerack.com.

If you like the tires that came with the car, why not buy the same brand and
    type?

    http://www.michelinman.com/catalog/tires/MichelinEnergyMXV4Plus.html

Click the "dealer locator" link and enter your zip code to learn where you
can buy that tire in your area.

I recommend you buy them from a tire dealer or the tire department of a
large discount store, not from an auto dealer. Costco and Sam's Club may
carry a comparable Michelin tire, but not the exact same model number.
Other Michelin dealers should be able to order the MXV4 Plus if they don't
    have it in stock.

May want to check your air pressure more often - 56k is not very good
for MXV4 Plus tires. Mine, on my 2000 EX V6, gave me 105k miles and I
only changed them because it was nearing winter and I wanted better
tires for the winter. They were still legal and probably had another
    5-10k.

Sams carries the MXV4 Plus tires, but I got my replacements at Sears
with a 15% off sale that made them quite close in price to Sams without
me having to pay for a Sams card.

Your driving styles might be quite different, also.

I just replaced the OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL 92 tires on my 2001
Accord LX V6 with Bridgestone Turanza LH-S tires.

The old tires had only 45k miles on them but they were already almost
down to the wear bar. With winter (snow) coming I decided to replace
them which was a good thing because we got hit with 8 inches the
following week. I did not like the old tires at all - they had
extremely poor road feel and steering response. It was impossible to
stay in the center of any lane without constant correction. Constant
monitoring of the tire pressure and checking the alignment did not
    help.

The new tires have transformed the car. Steering response and road
feel have improved tremendously. The only negative I have discovered
so far is a bit more road noise.

I bought my tires from Tirerack.com and had them shipped directly to a
partner garage in my neighborhood where they arrived two days later. I
had them installed the following day . . .

They only lasted 43k miles on my 2000 TL and I'm totally anal about wheel
alignments and tire pressure. I have routinely gotten better service out of
other (cheaper) tire brands on similar cars. If you got 105K miles, I
suspect you do almost exclusively highway driving on good straight roads.

That's true, although I do live in New England where the roads aren't
    "the best".
