Is that for the entire IMA control unit, or just the batteries that might
need to be replaced? An earlier poster said that the IMA control unit was
replaced as a unit if there was any difficult in it at all.

For a look at a price factor, what is the retail price for the 12v battery?

Just the battery pack; no controllers.

12v battery is a standard lead acid unit, about the size that a large
    motorcycle might use.

It's larger than a motorcycle battery. More like the one in my lawn
tractor. I wondered what the Honda price was for a 35AH Yuasa battery that
probably costs $29.95 at WalMart. None of the online suppliers have a
battery listed for the Civic yet. I can't find it on the Yuasa site
    either.

$2805 for Honda batteries that are matched and soldered together into a
neat package, as opposed to the rock-bottom internet supplier at $819 for a
pile of batteries that would require some work. I think other suppliers
    are in the $1200-1500 range.

  4. In the Civic Hybrid, it's a standard 51R battery you can buy anywhere -
same as in my '99 Integra and regular Civics. Honda is probably going to
sell you a Honda branded, made by Johnson Controls or Exide, or an AC Delco
    51R.

Okay. The 41Amp 51R at Autozone is $44.99. A little larger than the 35AH
in the Civic Hybrid. Using the Honda pricing for that battery might put a
better perspective on the Honda pricing of the IMA battery pack, which
could be a commodity item in another 8 years.
